M. Nasir Shir
Nasir joined Sewall as Director of Geospatial Services in 2020 with over two decades of GIS experience. He enjoys working on many complex and unique GIS projects, whether for the State of Maine, higher education, local municipalities, the United Nations, USAID, or international firms in Afghanistan or Abu Dhabi. Nasir’s career in geospatial thinking began at Clark University where he majored in geography and international development. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree, he earned his Master’s degree in community planning and development from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine.
In his spare time, Nasir loves to volunteer. To date, he has served Maine GIS User Group (MEGUG), GISCI Outreach Committee, Maine Civic Leadership, Waynflete Trustee, Maine Community Foundation, Cape Elizabeth Land Commission, Cape Elizabeth School Board, and University of Southern Maine Board of Visitors. He is on demand for any support required by the immigrant community, whether for a celebration or a hardship like burying loved ones. Nasir lives in the Portland area with his wife and is a proud father of five children. For fun, he likes to play basketball, take walks with friends, and play volleyball with the family during the good weather we have in Maine.
